Public Higher Education Caucus representatives visit campus

 Caucus members

Two members of the Public Higher Education Caucus visited the UMass Medical School campus in Worcester last week to learn more about the institution and its economic and community impact. State Rep. Jennifer Benson of Lunenberg and State Rep. Sean Garballey of Arlington met with Vice Chancellor for Community and Government Relations James Leary, pictured at right, who provided information, including a campus tour with stops in the integrated Teaching and Learning Center, the Albert Sherman Center construction site and the Ambulatory Care Center. According to Leary, both representatives were surprised to learn that only 4 percent of the UMMS budget comes from state appropriations.
