Four police officers honored at celebration

Four newly appointed or newly promoted police officers were honored by the Department of Public Safety at a celebration on Friday, Oct. 8, in the Golding Conference Room.

Officer Chrissy Rybicki, who joined the department in January, was recently certified as a bike patrol officer. She is also a basic emergency medical technician with the Upton Fire Department and is a certified Rape Aggression Defense instructor.

Officer Ryan Caneen, who joined the department in February, is certified for bike patrol. He holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Westfield State College, and has prior experience as a reserve police officer for the Town of Southborough and as a campus police officer at Framingham State College.

Officer Jeffrey Nye, who started with the UMass Medical School Department of Public Safety in 2002 as a dispatcher, became a police officer in 2007. He is a bike patrol officer and certified Rape Aggression Defense instructor.

Sergeant Daryl Jones was recently promoted from officer to sergeant/supervisor. He started as a dispatcher in 1996 and became an officer in 1998. He has completed numerous law enforcement training courses, including certification as a Simunitions Instructor and a bike patrol officer.
