University community invited to UMass Presidential Search Committee open forum today

pres search forum

TO: Members of the University of Massachusetts Worcester Community
FROM: James J. Karam, Chairman, University of Massachusetts Presidential Search Committee
DATE: August 31, 2010
SUBJECT: Public Forum

One of the core principles of the search for a new president is the importance of gathering as much guidance and hearing as many perspectives as possible as the process unfolds.
To that end, the University of Massachusetts Presidential Search Committee will sponsor an open forum that will be held at UMass Medical School on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 1:30 pm in Amphitheater I of the Medical School building.

All members of the University community are invited to attend and to participate.

This is an important step in the presidential search process, one that will inform our deliberations and recommendations.

The forum will be chaired by search committee member Kerri E. Osterhaus-Houle, MD. Other members of the search committee and representatives of our search firm, Greenwood/Asher & Associates Inc., are expected to attend.

We are confident that this search process will culminate in the selection of a dynamic new leader for the five-campus University of Massachusetts system, a president who can help raise our University to new levels of success and expand the already significant contribution that we make to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

I encourage members of the University of Massachusetts community to attend the forum. This process will be enhanced as a result of your participation.
