The University of Massachusetts Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), home to the University’s NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), will hold a six-month update meeting for all interested faculty from across UMass on Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Pappas Amphitheatre (Amphitheatre I) on the Worcester campus. Plans are being made for videoconferencing and lunch will be served.

“This is a great opportunity for all faculty interested in clinical and translational research to learn about the resources and services that are available through the CCTS,” said John L. Sullivan, MD, vice provost for research and professor of pediatrics and molecular medicine.

In July, the University of Massachusetts was awarded a five-year, $20 million Clinical and Translational Science Award to accelerate the process of turning laboratory discoveries into treatments for patients, engage communities in clinical research and enhance the training of a new generation of researchers. Led by the National Center for Research Resources of the NIH, the CTSA program is a national consortium of 55 elite medical research institutions working together to improve the way biomedical research is conducted across the country.
