Annual Thanksgiving food drive begins Oct. 29
GSBS Cares, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Community Service Committee, kicks off its fourth annual Thanksgiving food drive on Friday, Oct. 29. Donations will be collected until Nov. 24 and will benefit the Worcester County Food Bank, which collects donated food and grocery items and works with partner agencies to help feed hungry people in 60 cities and towns in Central Massachusetts.
Collection boxes will be available at the following locations:
- UMass Medical School building's main lobby, Student Affairs entrance and clinical lot entrance
- Lazare Research Building lobby
- Biotech I, II, IV and V main lobbies
- Ambulatory Care Center main entrance
Recommended food items include:
- Soup, stew and chili
- Dry and canned pasta
- Macaroni and cheese
- Cereal, rice and beans
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned tuna, chicken and salmon
- Peanut butter and jelly (no glass, please)
Monetary donations are also welcome (checks should be made out to the Worcester County Food Bank) and can be given to a GSBS Cares representative.
