New NIH grant aims to shed light on modality for inactivating HIV

Heinrich Gottlinger, PhD, has been awarded an NIH R01 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to study ectodomain shedding and HIV replication. The grant focuses on investigating how the cellular protease ADAM10 inhibits the propagation of HIV-1, and aims to identify a novel vulnerability that can be exploited to inactivate the virus.
