About Lupus

Cutaneous lupus is a broad diagnostic definition of skin manifestations of lupus. All of these subtypes are categorized by what dermatologists call “interface dermatitis”, which is basically an accumulation of white blood cells between the layers of the skin. Our research focuses on understanding how these white blood cells find their way up through the skin tissue, with the hopes of blocking their movement and halting disease. We hope that our research will one day provide new treatment options for patients with this devastating disease.
