What Does Recognition Mean to You?

  • “I would add some type of recognition program where high quality employees are awarded bonuses for their work.”
  • “make the employees feel as if they are important and matter to the organization and not just worker bees taking on more and more work time after time”

We received the two suggestions above from the IT Employee Engagement survey. Both deal with the idea of recognition, however, one asks for a monetary reward, while the other asks to be made to feel like they matter and are important.

Both as a state institution and in our current fiscal environment, the management can’t offer monetary rewards for excellent work. Taking that into consideration, what we’d like to know is what non-monetary solution would make you feel recognized for your effort?
