Graduate to Fellowship Data

UMass Memorial offers fully accredited fellowships in all the major Medicine subspecialties. To provide additional guidance to residents interested in applying to fellowships, both at UMass Memorial or elsewhere, we have established a team consisting of senior faculty from each of the subspecialties. These faculty members are available to assist you in choosing a specific fellowship, recommendations on where and when to apply, provide help with the application process, and provide aid with references and letters of recommendation. The combination of this team with residents’ mentors, other faculty members, the Program Directors, and chief residents has resulted in an outstanding success rate for matching in fellowships.

Over the past 10 years, 91% of all UMass residents who applied received fellowships. About half remain at UMass Memorial, with the remainder matching in outstanding programs throughout the country, including Brown University, Cleveland Clinic, Robert Wood Johnson University, National Institutes of Health, Northwestern University, St. Jude, Temple University, UC Davis, University of Chicago, University of Washington, Yale-New Haven and the Boston programs (including BI, BW and MGH). With regards to matching residents in the two most competitive fellowships, we average four residents per year matching in cardiology, and two residents a year matching in gastroenterology.

Our current class of 2015 had another outstanding match. Below are listed the fellowships and location for our most recent graduates:
