iCELS COVID-19 information

Our iCELS faculty and staff have been monitoring the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 carefully and communicating directly with our community. As healthcare educators and providers we believe preparation, prevention, and information are key to our system, practice and patient care. This page is designed to share our local communications and provide links to information relevant to our community.

With the increase in COVID-19 diagnoses across Massachusetts in early March we began to implement the following procedures based on CDC guidance:

  • Messaging and posting signs regarding
    • symptoms of COVID-19 include: fever, cough, shortness of breath
    • Preventative measures such as covering cough or sneeze, frequent handwashing for 20 seconds or using alcohol-based sanitizer, decreasing handshaking or other physical contact, maintaining physical distance from those who are ill or at increased risk
  • Informing staff and learners with these symptoms to self-identify, stay off-site and contact their healthcare provider
  • Increasing frequency and documentation of on-site cleaning measures
  • Adjusting our standardized patient practices to promote safety and decrease spread of infection

We understand that this situation remains fluid and believe that as healthcare educators we are in a unique position to share information and serve with compassion. Towards that end we will continue weekly email updates to collaborators who come to our iCELS campus or to whose locations we travel to provide experiential learning, and maintain this site.

Please contact with any questions.

Together we will achieve our vision for Better Outcomes Through Simulation.
