English as Second Language (ESL) Class

These culturally immersive English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are offered in partnership with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester. Classes cover listening skills, pronunciation, vocabulary building, conversational English and integrating ideas/American lifestyles as well as opportunities for social interaction.

Fall 2018 Schedule & Course Description:

English as a Second Language

Conversational English: English you can use at work, school, home, the store and around town.

Dates: Wednesdays, September 17, 2018 - December 5, 2018, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Teacher: Sarah Lyon

Description: Each class will have a theme that relates in some way to American thinking, manners, politics, morality, or lifestyles. We will read aloud an article that will function as a basis for our conversations while also giving us the opportunity to work on pronunciation and vocabulary enrichment.  Each class will also touch upon a bit of intermediate/advanced grammar. The greater part of this class will be spent in conversation with fellow students in small groups, involving practice of the grammar and new vocabulary. Most importantly, this class will give you the opportunity to get to know each other through your practice of English.

Please note: This is a multi-week class with 12 sessions. Please attend all 12 sessions.
