Program Goals

The goal of the program is to encourage participants to see biomedical research as a viable and rewarding career path, one that involves novel scientific discoveries, leads to pioneering biomedical innovations, supports the translation of discoveries into life-saving products and therapies, and the advancement of health for all.

Program Description

The UMass Chan Medical School Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a non-credit, ten-week structured research experience that provides participants with in-depth exposure to real-world biomedical research through hands-on experience and personalized mentorship. The program pairs undergraduate students with experienced investigators who serve as mentors, role models, and advisors. Participants engage in real-world biomedical research projects, gain valuable laboratory skills, and explore careers in biomedical science and academic medicine. The immersive environment fosters meaningful career-building connections with researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and peers that provide a foundation for future success in the biomedical sciences.
