Meet Our Family Health Residents!

 

PGY-1:

   
   

An-Hoa Giang, MD is a 2017 graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine where she was enrolled in the joint MD/MPH program. She is a 2011 graduate of the University of Rochester, where she completed her BS in Microbiology and Immunology. An-Hoa’s academic interests include maternal child health and global health and her personal interests include rock climbing, skiing and cooking. 

     
 

Thanh Thu Ngo, MD is a 2017 graduate of UMass Medical School and earned her BA in Biology from Wellesley College in 2010. Originally from Vietnam, Thu worked as a research coordinator in Boston prior to medical school. Her academic interests include maternal child health and global health. Thu also enjoys running, hiking and knitting. 

     
   

Nicele Puente, MD is a 2017 graduate of University of Virginia School of Medicine and earned her BA in International Relations from Boston University in 2004. Prior to medical school, Nicele served in the U.S. Army where she earned the rank of captain. Her academic interests include global health and adolescent medicine. Nicele also enjoys hiking and running.

     
   

Tri Trang, MD is a 2017 graduate of Albany Medical College and a 2012 graduate of Union College where he studied both Biology and Economics. Tri is a Worcester native and attended high school in the city. His interests include global health and working with diverse populations. Outside of the classroom, Tri also enjoys dancing, travel and physical fitness.



PGY-2:

   
 

Kevin Abraham, MD is a 2016 graduate of UMass Medical School and a 2012 graduate of UMass-Amherst, where he earned his BS in Biology. Kevin grew up in Bedford, MA and is the younger brother of recent WFMR graduate  Jemini Abraham. At UMass, Kevin was the co-leader of the OB/GYN interest group. His personal interests include running, singing and dance. 

     
 

Luis Raulo Colon-Mulero, MD is a 2016 graduate of University Of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, having earned his BS in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 2009. Raulo founded the FMIG group at his medical school and is interested in global health, population health and health advocacy. A singer and guitarist, Raulo also enjoys playing soccer.

     
 

Shannon Roche, DO is a 2016 graduate of Western Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a 2011 graduate of University of New England where she studied Medical Biology and Philosophy. Shannon spent a year as an AmericaCorps VISTA volunteer prior to medical school.  She enjoys working with underserved populations and also enjoys reading, hiking and travel. 

     
 

Benjamin Slocum, DO is a 2016 graduate of University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and a 2012 graduate of University of Maine-Orono where he received his BS in Biology. Benjamin’s academic interests include community health and addiction medicine. He also enjoys soccer, sailing and hiking.



PGY-3:

   
 

Omar Abduljabar, MD is a 2005 graduate of Al-Kindy College of Medicine in Iraq. Prior to residency, he worked as a medical interpreter and cultural case manager at Family Health Center. Omar was in the midst of residency training in Jordan prior to arriving in the US. He has also recently worked as a clinical research associate at Memorial Hospital. Omar also enjoys playing soccer in his free time.

     
 

Anthony Lorusso, MD is a 2015 graduate of UMass Medical School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt University in 2008 with a degree in Communication Studies. Anthony originally hails from Worcester, MA. He is excited to work with underserved populations and has a particular interest in addiction medicine. Anthony's other interests include teaching and practicing yoga, cooking, and fitness. 

      
 

Carolyn Murphy, MD, Chief Resident, is a 2015 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine and earned her BS in Chemistry from Boston College in 2010. A Connecticut native, Carolyn looks forward to working with an underserved community in residency. She is also a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility at Temple. Carolyn enjoys jigsaw puzzles, running and sewing.

     
   

Bryan Swaim, MD joined our program as a PGY-2 at FHCW last summer. A Massachusetts native, he received his BS in Biology from Tufts University in 2005 and his Masters in Biomedical Sciences also at Tufts in 2008, focusing on influenza vaccines and the elderly. He conducted research in Boston until medical school; he has published 9 papers and 4 abstracts. Bryan matriculated to Tufts Medical School and graduated in 2015. He has been active in soccer and ice hockey clubs and also used to sing in a choir.

     
 

Lieu Tran, MD is a 2015 graduate of Boston University School of Medicine and earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Wellesley College in 2009. A native of Vietnam, Lieu was a research technician at Brigham and Women's Hospital prior to medical school. Her passions in health care include addiction medicine. Lieu's personal interests include ballroom dancing, tennis and yoga.
