Albert Schweitzer Fellowship
In 2006, The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program inaugurated a satellite expansion site in Worcester. The Worcester/Central Massachusetts site marks an exciting new initiative to double the number of Fellows from a wide array of graduate educational programs who serve communities in Central Massachusetts. Honoring the legacy of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Fellows commit to a year of service with a community agency. Each Schweitzer Fellow devotes over 200 hours of service to local communities focusing on health issues identified in the community. The wide range of projects in Central Massachusetts include publishing a multi-lingual community health newspaper, teaching yoga classes to children living in a public housing project, developing a health outreach committee, and providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in outdoor exploration activities.
