SuetYan Kwan received her PhD at the University Of Texas At Houston in 2015 and Bachelor of Science at Imperial College London in 2009. She joined Xue lab in 2016.

Tingting Jiang received her PhD at the National University of Singapore in 2016 and Bachelor of Science in Nanjing University in 2011. She joined Xue lab in 2017. She is supported by a NIH K99 award (2021).

RTI Bullet Shun-Qing (Simon) Liang, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Shunqing Liang received his PhD in Biomedical Science at University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland, where he worked on Chemoresistance in Lung cancer. He joined Xue lab in 2018.

His research interest is to identify novel tumor suppressors and establish mouse models for liver cancer by CRISPR/Cas9.

Chunwei Zheng received her PhD at Chinese Academy of Science, Institute of zoology in 2019. She joined Xue lab in 2020.

Bin Liu received his Ph.D. from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, in 2019. His research focuses on optimizing and improving the CRISPR-associated systems for genome editing and gene therapy.

Chunqing Song received her PhD from National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), Beijing and China Agricultural University, China.

"My work focuses on identifying new liver cancer genes, building new mouse models for cancer, and characterizing mechanisms of tumor suppression."


RTI Bullet Jordan L. Smith 

M.D./Ph.D. Student

Jordan L. Smith is a Hutton Honors College graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Biology, English and a minor in History. Prior to joining the program at UMassMed, she was a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) post-baccalaureate fellow at the National Cancer Institute in the lab of Dr. Ji Luo.

Her current areas of research interest include uncovering mechanistic insights into therapeutic targets for hepatoblastoma, pathways for evasion of oncogene-induced senescence, and mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies. She is supported by a F30 fellowship from NCI (2019-2023).

RTI Bullet Max Hazeltine

Clinical fellow

Max Hazeltine received his MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2017, and his Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University in 2011. He is a general surgery resident physician, and taking a 2 year sabbatical from his clinical training to focus on research in pediatric liver cancer. His research interest is to identify therapeutic targets in hepatoblastoma using CRISPR. He joined the Xue lab in 2019.
