CTTRT New Director 

.The Center for Tobacco Treatment Research and Training (CTTRT) is pleased to announce that Dr. Elise Stevens will be transitioning into the role of Director of the Center upon Dr. Lori Pbert’s retirement on September 1, 2023.  Dr. Stevens is an assistant professor in the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. Her career has focused on understanding how to reduce tobacco use among various populations using health communication. Dr. Stevens’ work spans two areas: 1) developing health messages aimed at engagement in healthy behaviors (e.g., intervention messaging) and 2) identifying marketing techniques and features that promote the use of unhealthy products (e.g., advertising of tobacco products). Her work informs the development of tobacco education messaging and tobacco policy regulations. Dr. Pbert, who founded and has directed the Center since 1997, will assume the role of Director Emeritus for the Center.
