Carolyn Kraus

Graduate Student, Sontheimer Lab

 Carolyn Kraus

Carolyn earned her B.S. degree in biology from Emmanuel College in 2015. She spent her final year of college doing research in a biochemistry lab and completing an undergraduate thesis, which helped her realize her passion for biological research. After graduating from Emmanuel, Carolyn joined a research team at MassBiologics where she learned about immunology and all facets of antibody production. During her four years at MassBiologics, Carolyn realized that she was most interested in biotechnology and developing new therapeutics for patients. After joining the Sontheimer Lab in early 2020, Carolyn has begun pursuing that research interest further within the field of gene editing. Her work centers around developing new CRISPR/Cas9 tools for therapeutic uses with an emphasis on improving safety and efficacy. Outside of lab, Carolyn enjoys reading, crocheting, and baking all sorts of breads and pastries.
