Wire Myography

Wire Myography to Study Vascular Tone and Vascular Structure of Isolated Mouse Arteries

Wire myography is a reliable technique to evaluate vasoconstrictor, vasodilator and endothelial function of multiple vessels, as well as the participation of various factors and molecular pathways that control vascular tone. 

   

These procedures are used to study vascular function in ex vivo mounted vessels and tissues to measure vasomotor responses to a variety compounds and procedures. These tissue segments are maintained in a bath and mounted between two wires that support these tissues. One wire is connected to a force transducer used to record isometric tension developed by the tissue, and the other is connected to a micrometric screw that sets up the initial distension.
