Letter from the Chair

Date Posted: lunes, octubre 05, 2015

Chariman
Our first newsletter of fall recognizes several diverse accomplishments: recognition of Dr. Michael King being awarded the Edward J Hoffman Medical Imaging Scientist Award, Dr. Hesham Malik as the Radiologist for UMass' designation as a National Pancreas Foundation Center, Dr. Deepak Takhtani's publication of his first iBook, and the career development paths of several of our technologists, including Leah Berthiaume, Emmanuel Boateng, Shannon Avedian, Michele Foley, Kaitlyn Riley, and Marcia Amaral. We also welcome three new Radiologists: Dr's. Rex, Senapati and Newburg, as well as Dr. Yasmin Carter, our newest member of our Translational Anatomy faculty, and Cole DiRoberto, a research assistant in Dr. Steve Baccei's expanding quality, safety and process improvement team. Last month we also celebrated Dr. Balikian's 31 year career at UMass, as he plans for retirement
(see photos from his celebration here). Next month we will be announcing the official launch of a capital fund drive to help defray the cost of our new resident education space, currently under construction. Exciting developments to follow! With all the new members of our department I expect many more developments and opportunities this fall.

Best,
Max
