Letter from the Chair

Max Rosen, MD - Radiology Department ChairDear All,

I hope that everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and had some time to relax and enjoy family and friends. After an “optimistic” summer we are all now continuing to face the varied impacts of COVID on our personal and work “lives” with both recurrent and new challenges. While none of us knows exactly what the next few months will unfold, I am confident that our department is well positioned to meet these challenges.

This month’s newsletter celebrates our dedication to quality and safety with the exemplary efforts that Thea Nolan showed recognizing, researching, and pursing a problem that she identified with implantable ports  - which lead to a  national recall, our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with Ryan Tai’s selection to participate in the Association of University Radiologists’ IDEA Scholars Program, our commitment to our community with further improvements in our lung screening program, our commitment to innovation and teamwork with the “go-live” of our multidisciplinary Coronary CTA service and the recognition of David Gerson and Hao Lo’s collaborative research efforts in coronary imaging with cardiology by winning one of this year’s PACE Prizes, our commitment to education by Carolynn DeBenedectis’ semifinalist recognition by AuntMinnie’s “Most Effective Radiology Educator” nomination, and our commitment to our department’s continued growth and evolution with the addition of eight new faculty, four of who were our own trainees.

Please take a few minutes to read about all of these accomplishments and accept my thanks for all your extraordinary efforts.

Best,
Max
