Chiefs' Welcome

Welcome to the webpage of the UMass Psychiatry Residency Program! As the chief resident, I would like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to learn more about us. UMass serves as the largest academic medical center and safety net hospital in central Massachusetts. As such, I’ve found that our program offers a breadth of experiences that create a strong core curriculum while allowing us to nurture our own interests as psychiatrists in training.

Though our program is proud of its robust variety in clinical experiences, residents owe it to the great (and extensive!) faculty and community at UMass. Our faculty is dedicated to resident education in both the clinical and didactic settings. We are so fortunate to learn directly from approachable specialists who are so invested in our development. Whether in research, education, leadership, or advocacy, there are ample opportunities to find personalized mentorship.

Importantly, our program understands that residency training can be grueling, and leadership is dedicated to supporting you both professionally and personally. Work-life balance is a value that is emphasized and understood in our program. Our residents are close-knit and work well together at and outside of work which reflects the greater vision of camaraderie. Check out the resident bios to learn more about our trainees!
