Active Clinical Studies
IBD & Pregnancy (The MELODY Trial)
This study's goal is to determine if manipulation of the mother’s microbiome, through diet, would benefit their baby. The diet aims to promote a healthier immune system during a critical time of immune system development.
Participants
Pregnant women
Compensation
up to $900
The Oropharyngeal Microbiome and Outcomes in COVID-19
The study's goal is to determine if the oropharyngeal microbiome influences the immune system's response to COVID19 and how this could lead to outcomes like need for respiratory support or prolonged COVID19 symptoms. Future work could determine if interventions to change the oropharyngeal microbiome, such as probiotics, could mitigate severe disease manifestations or prevent the development of prolonged symptoms.
Participants
health care workers who have tested positive for COVID19 regardless of vaccination status
Compensation
$40
Alzheimer’s disease and Immune System Function
Our goal is to compare the microbiome of elders with AD to those without dementia, living in different settings, to determine the role the microbiome plays in cognitive decline while studying local and systemic immune function and brain cellular activity. Understanding how the intestinal microbiome impacts AD development and progression will provide novel therapeutic targets and enable future trials aimed at improving the memory of patients with AD.
Participants
older adults with Alzheimer’s disease
Compensation
up to $200
