UMass Chan Medical School is excited to host the 8th Annual Boston Area Drosophila Meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

The Boston Area Drosophila Meeting welcomes everyone who works on fruit flies in the New England area. We hope you will join us in bringing together fellow Drosophila researchers to participate in a compelling day of talks by graduate students/post-docs/faculty and our exciting keynote speaker, Yukiko Yamashita, PhD, from the Whitehead Institute at MIT.

The UMass Chan organizers are Neal Silverman, PhD, professor of medicine, Phillip Zamore, PhD, the Gretchen Stone Cook Professor of Biomedical Sciences and professor of RNA therapeutics, Andreas Bergmann, PhD, professor of molecular, cell and cancer biology, and Travis Thomson, PhD, assistant professor of neurobiology.

Toll2024

The Program in Innate Immunity at UMass Chan Medical School invites you to the seventh Toll meeting: Toll2024. Toll2024 will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from April 17-20, 2024.  Learn more. 

Amongst the speakers will be the some of the best of the field of innate immunity including Drew Weissman (Keynote speaker), Luke O’Neill, Andrea Ablasser, Lali Ramakrishnan, Feng Shao, Cateano Reis e Sousa, Judy Leiberman, Michael Heneka, Kate Fitzgerald, Michaela Gack Mihai Netea, Ramnik Xavier, Richard Flavell, Egil Lien, Russel Vance, Jon Kagan, Vishva Dixit, Shannon Turley, Philipp Henneke, Yasmine Belkaid, Martin Guilliams, Eicke Latz, Kenneth Rock, Bruno Lemaitre, Clare Bryant and many others.  

Topics to be covered in the meeting include Immunometabolism, Emerging Immunity, COVID therapeutics and pathophysiology, Gut homeostasis, Neuroinflammation, Inflammasomes/Pyroptosis, Epithelial host defenses and more.  

Rotterdam is a vibrant city, just 30 minutes by train from Schiphol Airport.

Background

The International Toll Conferences aim to present recent advances on Toll and Toll-like receptors and related molecules in innate immunity. These meetings are held approximately every 2-3 years and are a unique opportunity for communication and networking between world-class faculty, ranging from developmental biologists to translational scientists, and new and established researchers in the field. Past conferences have been held in Italy, Brazil, Portugal and Spain.

Innate Immunity Day

Innate Immunity Day is a half-day symposium held on the campus of UMass Chan Medical School. Each meeting is centered around a specific theme in the field of innate immunity and features keynote and plenary presentations by experts from around the world. The next event will be held in 2025.

2023

Innate Immunity Day 2023: Mechanisms and Consequences of Cell Death was held on May 10, 2023, and featured an exciting lineup of scientific talks from experts in the field of innate immunity as well as the student and postdoctoral awardees of RISE: The Robert W. Finberg, MD Memorial Research Training Awards. 

2022 

Innate Immunity Day 2022: A celebration in honor of Dr. Robert Finberg, was held on May 25, 2022. The day was a celebration in memory of Dr. Finberg and his distinguished career, and featured keynotes and talks from his former colleagues, collaborators, and friends.
