Global Health Resource Library
About the Global Health Resource Library:
The Global Health Resource Library is a small, but growing collection of books, DVDs, CDs and other resources that are related to the topic of global health. The collection lives permanently in the Lamar Soutter Library at the UMass Chan Medical School (UMMS), and are available for all members of the UMMS community to use.
The resources can both be used in the library, and checked out for use at home, in the hospital, or even while you are travelling on a global health experience outside of the U.S.
The books and other resources that are part of the Global Health Resource Library can be found together in the Humanities in Medicine collection, which is located near the Rare Book Room. These resources will be tagged with a special sticker of a globe, so they can easily be identified."
If you see a book that has this label on the inside cover, then it is part of the Global Health Resource Library.
Background:
In March 2016, a small collection of books was purchased thanks to the efforts of the UMMS medical students who have led the student-led Global Health Topics In Action Optional Enrichment Elective (i.e., Raghu Appasani, Nichole Lang and Jerome Rogich from the UMMS Class of 2018; Simone Miller and Marie-Michele Sainvil from the UMMS Class of 2017), Michael Chin, Len Levin & other staff at the UMMS Lamar Soutter Library.
How to contribute:
- We want to hear from you! Please send us an email to suggest a book or other resource that you'd like to be added to the Global Health Resource Library.
- We welcome your contribution! If you'd like to contribute a book or other resource (e.g., a book that you've finished reading and want to donate to the library so other UMMS community members can use it), or if you'd like to make a financial donation so that we can make new additions to the collection, then please send us an email.
