Shadowing
Location/Expectations
You can use EPIC to log-in and confirm the attending clinic vs OR schedule on the day that you plan to shadow. It's a good idea to double-check the schedule prior to going in because the schedule can change. If you are planning on shadowing in the OR, please ensure that you are scrub trained/have access. For assistance with this please contact the surgery interest group.

We’re sure you’re here because, just like us, you know ENT is the coolest specialty. We tried to put together a streamlined process for requesting shadowing with these awesome docs.
- Figure out who you want to shadow - there is a wide range of subspecialties within ENT, so read up on the different people you can shadow to learn more about them:
https://www.umassmed.edu/otolaryngology/about-us/faculty-members/. Please refer to the following list for physician preferences.
*Note: if you are interested in shadowing Michael Murphy, MD please contact him to request permission before reaching out to our Program Coordinator, Frankie Guzman. Otherwise, you can reach out to Frankie directly.
- Use this link (ENT schedules) for up-to-date schedules on OneNote. Identify a slot with the physician you want to shadow where no other learners are scheduled, and email Frankie Guzman (mailto:frankenia.guzman@umassmed.edu) to schedule shadowing. Please include which faculty you would like to shadow on what date and time in the email.
- Once confirmed, please email the faculty and mention that you have reached out to Frankie and will be joining the faculty in the clinic/OR on a certain date. If shadowing in the OR, please confirm the location with the faculty in your email (University, Hahnemann, etc).
Happy shadowing!
