Extension of indoor mask mandate (May 26)

The requirement for all employees, students and visitors to wear a mask while inside UMass Chan buildings is being extended until at least June 12. As we have done since the beginning of the pandemic, our infection control and public health guidelines are based on all available data related to COVID-19 transmission and infection rates.

Surgical masks will continue to be available at the lobby entrance of each building, and while some individuals may elect to wear KN95 or N95 masks, please note that cloth masks are not permitted.

While the indoor mask mandate remains in effect, masks may be removed indoors only:

  • if you are alone in your office with the door closed;
  • if you are alone in a cubicle and at least six feet away from others; or
  • as briefly as possible while eating and physically distanced from others.

If you are not feeling well, please do not come to campus and consult your health care provider as needed. Our campus guidelines regarding what to do if you have COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 can be found at this link.

When working in clinical settings, clinical faculty, residents, fellows and students should follow the PPE and infection control guidelines specific to that given facility.

We appreciate that adherence to important health and safety measures has allowed our campus community to continue our vital work, while maintaining a safe learning and working environment. We thank you for your continued cooperation.
