Extension: COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Faculty and Staff

We are encouraged by and appreciative of the high level of compliance with UMass Medical School’s COVID-19 vaccination requirement, which is a critical step to protect the health and safety of our campus and broader communities.

To facilitate the highest level of compliance possible, we are extending the deadline by several days: now, all faculty and staff are required to receive the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine (or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine), and provide documentation to UMMS no later than Friday, September 10, at 5 p.m.  Those requesting a medical or religious exemption must have a request pending or approved by September 10, as well.

Faculty, staff or students who do not meet the above requirement will have their ID badge access to non-clinical areas deactivated on September 11.

On August 23 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the Pfizer vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older.

Instructions to submit documentation and additional information can be found at this link.

Thank you for your attention to this important requirement.
