UMass Medical School appears on Forbes’ 2021 edition of its America’s Best Employers by State list. Forbes has ranked the Medical School No. 39 among Massachusetts employers. Forbes partnered with Statista Inc., the statistics portal and industry ranking provider, to develop lists for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Despite being among the hardest hit by the pandemic, employers in health care, education and retail dominated the rankings, accounting for 41 percent of the 2021 list, up from 38 percent last year.
The 1,330 employers on the America's Best Employers by State list were identified through an independent survey. Approximately 80,000 Americans working for companies with more than 500 employees in the United States were surveyed between October 2020 and June 2021. Employees were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employees were also asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industry and state what stood out either positively or negatively. Some brands appear on multiple state lists.
