UMMS Center for Mindfulness brings signature program to China

More than 250 eager health care professionals and educators participated in the first-ever presentation of UMass Medical School’s world-renowned Mindfulness-Based  Stress Reduction in Mind-Body Medicine program in Beijing in November. UMass Medical School mindfulness pioneers Saki Santorelli, EdD, professor of medicine and executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society, and Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, professor emeritus of medicine and founder of the Center for Mindfulness, presented the world-renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Mind-Body Medicine program to a class of 250 eager health care professionals and educators in Beijing.This is the largest group ever to participate in a single presentation of this professional training program.

The week-long workshop was co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Science, the Chinese Psychological Society and Capital Normal University in Beijing.

In collaboration with Chinese researchers, clinicians, and educators, the Center for Mindfulness is planning a series of simultaneous translation programs in China and other Asian countries during the next several years.
