How medical–legal partnerships can help communities navigate the coming health coverage changes under the Affordable Care Act will be the focus of a panel discussion on Monday, Oct. 28, moderated by Robert Seifert, MPA,principal associate at the Center for Health Law and Economics, a unit of UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division.

“Lowering costs: MLP and ACA implementation” is on the program of the 4th Annual Medical–Legal Partnership Conference. The all-day conference hosted by Medical-Legal Partnership Boston will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Panelists from the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center and Community Legal Aid, Inc. will tell the story of Family Advocates of Central Massachusetts, a partnership between Worcester community health centers and Community Legal Aid. CLA lawyers provide training, consultation and advocacy to community health workers to both understand and help their clients navigate the changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act, including new programs and eligibility requirements for MassHealth and other subsidized health insurance.
