UMass Chan mindfulness expert to Harper’s Bazaar: mindfulness can be as simple as paying attention

korbel-lynnUMass Medical School Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Science instructor Lynn Koerbel, MPH, spoke to Harper’s Bazaarabout mindfulness-based stress reduction, which was pioneered at UMMS. She is quoted in a feature story about techniques for reducing stress in the August issue of the magazine.

“Stress comes from reactivity to what’s happening,” said Koerbel, who is assistant director of the Oasis Institute for Mindfulness-Based Professional Education and Training. With mindfulness-based stress reduction training, she explained, the relationship between the person and what they’re experiencing begins to shift.
