Overview

The UMass Chan Internal Medicine Residency Research Track was established in 2022 to foster strong research mentoring relationships along with advancing knowledge and skills in clinical, translational and basic science. Residents interested in careers as physician-scientists are invited to apply as PGY1 and remain in the program for the duration of their residency training. Each resident in the Research Track will be assigned a primary research mentor and Research Track core faculty mentor, and will meet at least monthly with these mentors. Throughout the program, residents will develop their own research projects with the goal of publishing abstracts, reviews and original manuscripts, and presenting at local and national conferences. In addition, residents will participate in monthly didactics, seminars and research-in-progress sessions on research topics.

Goals:

  1. Provide training, one-on-one mentoring and support to residents interested in physician-scientist careers
