We are a track in the well-established UMass Chan Internal Medicine Residency, known for its comprehensive clinical training in a supportive and diverse educational environment.
Our Primary Care Track has a separate Program Director, schedule, curriculum, core faculty, and NRMP Match. Our track was developed with the full and enthusiastic support of our medical school, office of GME, Department of Medicine, and clinical system, and has generated significant community engagement and collaboration. Our novel program emphasizes national educational best practices, balances educational and clinical service needs, and is innovative in its delivery of the core curriculum and experiences. With our “3+2” schedule and additional ambulatory clinical rotations, we offer far more ambulatory training (50-60%) than one would find in traditional categorical internal medicine programs. We also ensure ample training in the inpatient and critical care settings, as well as in medical subspecialties, to create well-rounded general internists. Supplemental formal curriculum in leadership, medical education, quality, and leadership prepares our graduates for infinite career choices.
Lastly, our team of established medical educators are paired with residents in personalized mentoring models to support each resident with their individual career goals in mind.
