jacques.jpg Sara Jacques, MA

Education Manager, Department of Medicine, Residency Program Administrator

Sara has worked at UMass Chan Medical School for 13 years, starting out as the Medicine UME Coordinator, working with 3rd and 4th-year medical students. Her role as the Program Administrator for the Medicine Residency began in 2017, and she also oversees all of the UME and GME Internal Medicine education programs.

More about me: I enjoy being part of the journey that learners experience from medical school, through residency and into fellowship.

Prior to my time at UMass, I worked in Higher Education for 10 years, both in Residence Life and Academic Advising. I received my BA in Psychology from the University of San Diego and have my Master's degree in Social Psychology, as well as certification in Integrative Wellness Coaching. I've worked at colleges and universities across the country, and as most of my family lives on the west coast - I try to visit the Pacific with my two daughters as often as I can!

Mary Roberts

Administrative Manager

Mary joined UMass in the Internal Medicine Residency program in September 2011 as an Administrative Assistant and is currently the Administrative Manager.

More about me:  I consider myself fortunate to work with such a supportive team as we strive to provide the best training possible for our diverse group of physicians.   Two of my favorite tasks at work include elective scheduling and the recruitment process.   Before UMass, I used my office management degree first in the computer telephony industry than at a small liberal arts college in the offices of the Vice President for Student Services and Vice President for Academic Administration.   I live in the oldest town in Worcester County and love to walk by the Nashua River, in a friend’s apple orchard or hayfields with my dog.  As a lifelong New England sports fan, I have been fortunate to watch them win in recent years - Go Patriots!  Away from work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and channeling my inner “Martha Stewart” by tackling projects around the house, preserving fresh produce, and baking for my family and the residents.

Tina Pierce

Administrative Coordinator

Tina has worked at UMass Chan Medical School for 7 years, starting out in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education/Office of Student Affairs.  Prior to joining the Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2021, Tina was an Education Program Specialist where she support the courses for 1st and 2nd-year medical students.

More about me: It has been a great opportunity to be able to work with the 1st and 2nd-year students on many different levels.  It gave me the chance to build great relationships with some students which have carried over into their residency years. Working in the IM residency program allows me to continue to watch the UMass Chan students grow into their own roles as doctors

Kelley BaronKelley Baron

Program Coordinator, Ambulatory Scheduling

Kelley has worked at UMass since 1988 and has held positions with the medical school as well as on the clinical/hospital side. She began working for the Internal Medicine Residency Program in February 2024.

More about me: I was previously an Administrative Assistant in several research departments at UMass Chan Medical School. I worked with students in a PhD and a Master’s Program for many years, which gave me experience and transferable skills to my position in the Residency program. I enjoy working on the resident schedules and all the other tasks involved. I look forward to assisting the residents in any way that will help their process through Residency go smoother for them.

Mariah Amsden, MA

Program Coordinator

Mariah has worked at UMass Chan Medical School since November 2023 and previously worked for 6 years as a research analyst with a company that specialized in accounting data. Prior to that, she was a Special Education teacher working with students on the Autism spectrum. Mariah earned a BS in Psychology at Plymouth State College and a Masters in Education from Simmons College.

More about me: I am thrilled to get back into the education field that I truly love and missed.  So far, my experience in the Internal Medicine Residency office has been enjoyable, and I'm eager to delve deeper into the program's workings. In my spare time I’m typically chasing after my 2 very energetic boys.  We like to spend time outdoors, swimming, camping, and hiking as much as we can.
