Program overview

The Cancer Research Office (CRO) at the UMass Cancer Center is a centralized team of dedicated, specialized oncology nurses and coordinators who provide essential infrastructure and operational support for cancer clinical trials. Our primary goal is to work with your physician-investigators to deliver new and promising treatments that can improve the lives of patients. We serve as the central point of contact coordinating with investigators, clinical teams, investigational pharmacy, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), laboratory, radiology, and external organizations like the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and other academic institutions. Our comprehensive services range from feasibility and startup to recruitment, education, study visit coordination, data entry, specimen processing, and regulatory compliance and oversight. We are supported by the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) Office of Clinical Research (OCR).

The CRO supports and coordinates a wide range of adult clinical research across all trial phases (Phase I through IV). We work closely with each of the disease specialties in the Cancer Center. Our areas of proficiency include medical and surgical oncology, malignant and classical hematology, neuro-oncology, gynecological oncology, and cellular and immune effector cell therapies.

We support and coordinate the UMass Cancer Center's participation in the National Cancer Institutes’ (NCI) National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) as a main member special participant of ECOG-ACRIN and Gynecological Oncology’s NRG sub-affiliation through John’s Hopkins.
