Date Posted: lunes, marzo 11, 2019

Jacqueto ZephyrJacqueto Zephyr has been awarded a Ruth L. Kirschtein Predoctoral Individual National Research Award ( F31) by the National Institute of General Medicinal Sciences (NIGMS). Jacqueto is combining X-ray crystallography, enzymology, and organic chemistry to design Flavivirus protease inhibitors as potential therapeutics. More specifically, Jacqueto is using the substrate envelope model and a fragment-based drug design approach to preemptively address the potential problem of drug resistance that occurs when targeting rapidly evolving viruses such as Flaviviruses, namely Zika and Dengue viruses.

Congratulations Jacqueto!
