PAIN
The Pain group focuses on describing pain and its management in nursing home residents. Using latent class models, we have identified subgroups of residents experiencing similar pain symptom clusters and believe that this research will provide new pathophysiologic insights. The ultimate goal is to identify better strategies to manage symptoms in the elderly. Methodologically rigorous comparative effectiveness and safety studies will be conducted to quantify benefits and risks of pharmacologic approaches to specific common pain symptom clusters in nursing home residents.
