A Letter From Our Program Director

Welcome to the Endocrinology Medicine fellowship website.  Accredited since 1987, our program combines faculty from both the Division of Endocrinology and the Division of Diabetes. Each faculty member has his/her own special interest and expertise. Several faculty members are involved in clinical and/or basic research in the fields of Diabetes or Endocrinology, and many are experts in their field. Fellows also work closely with faculty of Pediatric Endocrinology and  Reproductive Endocrinology.

Clinical training occurs primarily at the University Campus, about 10% of clinical time spent at the Memorial Campus. Our hospitals service Central Massachusetts and beyond. Visit the UMass Memorial Health Care Systems website to learn about the communities we serve. Our fellows participate in the services of the Diabetes Center of Excellence, Thyroid Center and Metabolic Weight loss program, with elective rotations in pediatric endocrinology, lipid and reproductive endocrinology clinics.

The program includes a strong didactic curriculum. We have multiple conferences, including several interdepartmental conferences with the Department of Pathology and the Division of Neurosurgery (see conferences). Fellows are also actively involved in teaching residents and medical students in both clinical and didactic settings. All fellows participate in scholarly activity in the form of clinical or basic research and/or abstracts at local and national meetings. Fellow participation in quality improvement projects, patient safety committees and interdepartmental quality committees is also highly encouraged.

The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and all trainees are eligible to take the American Board of Internal Medicine subspecialty certification examinations in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. All recent graduates have been successful in finding careers in both academic and clinical practice.

This website contains information about the UMass Endocrinology fellowship, the program faculty, and other information important to future applicants.  Please take time to explore the website and learn about our program and what we have to offer.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, or our program coordinator Susan Muradian, should you have any questions.
