The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at UMass Medical School is a fully accredited, three-year residency that was approved by the Residency Review Committee for Emergency Medicine in 1986. Twelve candidates are accepted into the program each year. The program requires 36 months for completion.

Our mission is to be the preeminent Department of Emergency Medicine in the country by delivering excellent health care, with respect and dignity to all patients needing emergent or urgent care services; conducting ground- breaking research that enhances public health; and developing innovative, educational programs for all levels of health care providers.
