Standing In Solidarity with the LGBT Community: A Candlelight Vigil

Thursday, July 21, 2016

rainbow colored hand illustration with Orlando in the imageQMass, UMass' Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Interest Group, would like to personally invite you to a Candlelight Vigil held for the victims of Orlando on Wednesday, August 3rd, at 7 PM in front of the Medical School (Medical School Terrace and North Quadrangle).

One of the most frightening aspects of the Orlando massacre was not only that members of the LGBT community were specifically targeted- but that they were targeted in their own sanctuary. In recognition of the defacement of this sanctuary, our event is called Standing In Solidarity with the LGBT Community: A Candlelight Vigil.

In addition, Student National Medical Association (SNMA) has been invited to speak about the Black Lives Matter movement, as QMass proudly stands in solidarity with BLM as well.

It is our goal to provide a space for healing and creative expression as we collectively revisit this monumental loss of life. We hope to demonstrate that UMass’ support for the LGBT community is unwavering and ongoing, and that the light of hope ignited in the face of these dark times continues to burn.

A calendar event has been created: or you may contact QMass directly at
