CEOD Year End Annual Report Message

As we celebrate this academic year, we look forward to collaboration with our University leaders and the DIO to engage in more robust efforts towards creating a culture of inclusion and operationalizing the mission for diversity. It is our desire to help create a work environment on our campuses where no one EVER feels excluded and where no one EVER feels that they cannot be their true selves.

Mature Workforce Committee 2018

The Mature Workforce Committee functions as an advocate for faculty and staff over the age of 40, and supports continuous educational and professional opportunities for mature employees. The committee also serves to support employees who are transitioning out of the workplace and preparing for retirement. Thus the committee serves a dual function of retaining mature workers institutional wisdom while also providing support and assistance to retiring employees who seek to retain their connection to UMASS Medical School.

Minority Academic Achievement Committee (MAAC) 2018

The MAAC makes recommendations to recruit and retain minority faculty and staff. The primary focus of the committee is to foster recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority faculty, residents, and staff. It also strides to help build an inclusive work environment through increased engagement of African American, Hispanic, and LGBT faculty and staff. The committee is co-chaired by José R. Lemos, PhD and Steven Stowe.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Allies Committee 2018

The LGBTA Committee helps members of the UMMS campus develop awareness and sensitivity towards LGBT matters. The LGBTA Committee supports LGBTA faculty, staff, and students in the University community. The mission of the committee is to create a visible network of support by serving as a resource for the UMMS LBGT community.

In collaboration with the Immigration Services Office of Human Resources, the International Committee works to assure a seamless integration into Massachusetts and the University.

The Civility Sub-Committee at UMASS Medical School was formed out of a desire to promote a sustainable civil culture at UMASS Medical School. The Civility Sub-Committee, through their educational and training events, helps foster a civil organizational climate where all members of UMMS feel respected, supported, and safe in their community.
