About the Presenter

Ali Hall (JD) is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and an independent consultant and trainer. Ali has designed and facilitated more than twelve hundred MI workshops for a wide variety of helping professionals and practitioners and provides training for trainers in evidence-based practices. Ali provides MI coding and skill development coaching and provides consultation to systems for effective MI implementation. Ali also serves as a reviewer for the National Registry for Evidence-Based Practices and Programs (NREPP).  

About the Workshop

This 2-day MITI Version 4.2.1 workshop will provide multiple practice opportunities to learn and apply specific and current concepts in Motivational Interviewing coding and coaching.

Participants will engage in learning through well-paced, immersive and highly interactive discussions, using written materials, videos, audio recordings, exercises, and multiple practice opportunities. Participants will also have an opportunity to develop coaching plans, and practice delivering coding and coaching feedback. This workshop is ideal for practitioners who are interested in elevating their MI skills to a new level, for evaluating and improving one’s own work or helping others become more skillful, preparing for research projects using the MITI, and/or for supervising and coaching others effectively in MI practice.

Learning Objectives

After this workshop, participants will be able to:  

1. Evaluate conversations using the MITI 4.2.1

2. Create coaching plans based on conversation examples

3. Use "elicit‐provide‐elicit" in providing feedback
