Ruth completed graduate field placements at Yale University Health Services and Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute prior to her first professional position at the Outpatient Mental Health Program, Meriden-Wallingford Hospital,Meriden, CT. She has worked for the past 27 years as a licensed, clinical social worker at the Outpatient Psychiatry Department at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA, and in her private practice in Shrewsbury, MA. She has extensive experience in psychotherapy with adults facing depression, anxiety, stress and trauma. She has a specialty in women’s mental health during the perinatal period and has provided both individual and group therapy for pregnant and postpartum women with mood disorders as well as women who have experienced birth loss. She has a daily personal meditation practice and is a life-long yoga practitioner. Her clinical practice integrates mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy and she has taught Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy since 2013. She has presented to high school and graduate students as well as adults new to mindfulness meditation. Ruth continues her mindfulness teacher development at both the Oasis Institute, Center for Mindfulness, UMass Medical School and the Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute at UC San Diego.
