You're on board to support the UMass Cancer Walk and Run? Thank you! To help you prepare for both fundraising and the event itself, here are answers to the most common questions we received about the UMass Cancer Walk and Run.

When can I start fundraising?

It's never too early or too late to help in the fight against cancer!

How do I become a 500 Club Member?

You become a member by personally raising $500 by event day! As a 500 Club member, you will be invited to an exclusive Thank-you Reception where you will meet and mingle with physicians, researchers and staff of the UMMS Cancer Center. It's a wonderful opportunity for you to learn about the impact you are making in the fight against cancer. Learn more.

Where do I turn in donations the day of the event?

You may bring all donations to the Registration Tent on Walk day. Please write your name and your team name on the envelope to ensure your fundraising dollars are credited to you and your team. 

When and where does the Survivor Lap take place?

The Survivor Lap takes place at approximately 9:40 a.m., just before the official start of the walk. This is a half loop around the quad ending right where the Walk will begin at 10 a.m.

If you are participating in the Survivor Lap, please be next to the stage by 9:30 a.m. to line up and receive some fun stuff that will help you be loud and proud!  

What time does the run begin?

Run Registration:  7 to 7:40 a.m. 

Registration fee:  $35 in advance (register online) - $45 day of event.

Run Start:  8 a.m.             

How long is the run?

The run is approximately 3.5 miles long. This is slightly longer than a 5K run, which is 3.1 miles.

I have pre-registered for the run, where do I pick up my bib?

You may pick up your bib at Marathon Sports in Shrewsbury a few days before the event (TBD for 2020). You may also pick up your bib at the Registration Tent on event day. Run details here.

What time do the 1-mile and 5-mile walks begin?

Registration: 8 to 10 a.m. 

Registration fee: $10

Walk Start: 10 a.m.

Are there water stops along the walk and run routes?

Yes! The run has two water stops. The 1-mile walk route has one water stop and the 5-mile walk route has three water stops.

Is parking available on UMass Medical School Campus?

Yes! Click here to view parking map and to get driving directions.

Where will I find restrooms?

Portable restrooms are available on campus, along the run, along the 1-mile walk route and at the three water stops along the 5-mile walk route.
