Rhind Lab publishes paper in Genetics

The fission yeast S-phase cyclin Cig2 can drive mitosisThe fission yeast S-phase cyclin Cig2 can drive mitosisMary Pickering, a Senior Scientist, and Mira Magner, an Undergraduate Research Associate, both in the Rhind lab, have shown that Cig2, the fission yeast S-phase cyclin, can also drive mitosis.  Their work supports the quantitative model of cell-cycle regulation, which posits that the difference between the cyclins that drive S-phase and mitosis is not a difference in the kinase targets of the cyclins, but rather the level of kinase activity that the cyclins provide.  The work was recently published in Genetics: “The fission yeast S-phase cyclin Cig2 can drive mitosis
