Date Posted: Thursday, May 21, 2020

Emily AgnelloEmily Agnello, a second-year graduate student in the Kelch lab, has been awarded a fellowship through the NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). This 3-year prestigious award funds outstanding student scientists who are committed to broadening the participation of underrepresented groups in STEM. Emily’s project entitled “Elucidating the structural and mechanistic features of a thermophilic bacteriophage” will combine cryo-EM and light scattering techniques to investigate the structure of a unique tail filament and the dynamics of viral assembly. These studies will provide a thorough understanding of viral mechanisms and how they can be harnessed for nanomaterial development.

Congratulations Emily!
