Brian Kelch and Cynthia Fuhrmann

We are delighted to announce that Brian Kelch will be joining the faculty in Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, and, his spouse, Cynthia Fuhrmann will lead graduate student professional development in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Brian received his PhD with David Agard at UCSF and is completing a postdoctoral at UC Berkeley with John Kuriyan. Brian will apply his training in biophysics and crystallography to understanding the clamp loader mediated binding of the sliding clamp onto the double stranded DNA for replication. Cynthia also received her PhD in biophysics with David Agard and is currently the Program Director for Academic Career Development at UCSF. She will be instrumental in preparing our graduates for a variety of careers in biomedical science and related disciplines. Their complementary expertise will enrich biophysics and structural biology in our department and add a very important and timely dimension to graduate training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
