Student Silvana Reid Awarded Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Provost MQP Award

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Silvana Reid, Class of 2022 majoring in Biochemistry (BS), was awarded the Provost's MQP Award for academic excellence. This student's project was titled "Assessment of Nucleotide Labeling to Determine Organization of DNA Replication" and was advised by Destin Heilman in the Department of Biochemistry.
The Provost's MQP Awards recognize teams of students who have completed exemplary academic projects. Winners are chosen in each department through a competition process, which reflects the true depth and breadth of academic opportunity at WPI. Only one project is chosen per academic department.
The MQP (Major Qualifying Project) is one of the university's distinctions in its project-based learning curriculum. All seniors complete an MQP, a professional-level research project in their major discipline. Using the knowledge they have acquired, they apply it to real-world professional problems and scenarios.
