Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Research, Clinical Research Center (CRC)

The Clinical Research Center (CRC) in the Department of Anesthesiology is available to clinical investigators who are in need of an on-site area to conduct research related activities. The Director of the CRC is an Anesthesiologist board certified in Critical Care. The Critical Care Research (CCR) staff manages the CRC The staff consists of a Research Nurse Manager, a Senior Research Nurse and a Clinical Research Coordinator. Collectively, the staff has over 25 years of research experience. The 2 nurses have acute care nursing backgrounds, are ACLS certified and BLS Instructors. All 3 of the staff members are certified in clinical research (CCRC). Critical Care Research is able to provide both inpatient and outpatient research support (including off-site coverage) at reasonable costs. The following services are available:

      • Accessible and comfortable space for study participants on the 2nd floor of the Medical School
      • Two (2) exams rooms for study conduct
      • Phlebotomy area with comfortable recliners for lengthy visits
      • Space for visiting researchers, their support staff and external monitors
      • Conference room for start-up meetings, sponsor visits and research staff use
      • Laboratory equipped with refrigerated centrifuge, -20°C and -80°C freezer space
      • Prep area for packaging and shipping central lab specimens according to protocol requirements
      • Budget development
      • Protocol development
      • Regulatory support for all aspects of clinical research (Protocol feasibility, IRB submission, electronic CRF’s, etc.).
