  • Congratulations to Zheng (Frank) Zhou, MD, internal medicine resident, who received the first place award in the resident research poster competition at the American College of Physician's Massachusetts Medical Society Annual Meeting recently. His presentation, “Anti-VEGF and Anti-EGFR Monoclonal Antibodies in the First-line Therapy for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer - A Meta-analysis,” is coauthored by oncologists Drs. William Walsh, Venu Bathini and Bilal Piperdi. Dr. Zhou will compete at the national level at the American College of Physician's Internal Medicine Conference in Toronto in April.
     
  •  Jillian Smith, et al have received quick and positive attention for their recent outcomes research investigating in-hospital mortality associated with cancer-related gastric resections ( http://archsurg.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/142/4/387?ct ).  It has been cited in Journal Watch Oncology and Hematology May 21, 2007 ( http://oncology-hematology.jwatch.org/cgi/content/full/2007/521/1?ct ). 
  •  James McPhee received favorable coverage in the American College of Surgeon's General Surgery News for his report at the ASCO GI Cancer Symposium that perioperative mortality after pancreatectomy for neoplasm is declining in the United States (General Surgery News March 2006, page 8)  ( http://www.facs.org/surgerynews/0306.pdf  )
  •  The Pancreatic Cancer Alliance hosted a Big Band Blast at Foothills Theatre.  In attendence were multiple members of the SOAR team.  Coverage of the event was provided by Worcester Living Magazine .
  •  Dr. Tseng is named the first Research Scholar in Digestive tract tumors, an honor supported through the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance.  Read the article in the  Worcester Telegram and Gazette .
